The
Scholarship Program is the flagship project of PICPA Saudi Arabia
(Eastern Province) Chapter, a professional organization registered
in the Philippines and recognized by Saudi Aramco. The program
was conceived in 1992 with the primary purpose of providing scholarship
grants to the poor but deserving Filipino students enrolled in
BS Accountancy in the Philippines.
In
1993, the Chapter formed the PICPA-KSA Scholarship Foundation
Inc. to ensure the continued operation and long term success of
the program. It was registered with the Philippines Securities
and Exchange Commission on November 10, 1993 as a non-stock, non-profit
corporation .
Starting
with two scholars in 1992, the Foundation has now produced a total
14 graduates; 6 from PUP Sta Mesa, 2 from the Holy Angel University
Angeles City, and one each from St. Louis University Baguio
City, Aquinas University Legazpi City, University of San Agustin
Iloilo City, University of San Jose Recoletos Cebu City, MSU
Iligan Institute of Technology, and University of the Immaculate
Concepcion Davao City. Six of those graduates have successfully
passed the licensure examination for Certified Public Accountants
given by the Philippine Board of Accountancy. The Scholarship
Program reached its hallmark when one of its graduates, Alison
D. Pangilinan, garnered the 10th highest rating in the CPA Licensure
Examinations given by the Philippine Board of Accountancy in October
2002. His overall rating was 88.86. (Scholarship
